Biography

John Boyer is the Martin Ryerson Distinguished Service Professor of History at the University of Chicago. His research and teaching focuses on the modern history of Europe, especially the states, peoples, and societies of Central Europe since 1700. He has special teaching interests in German history from 1740 to 1918, the history of the Hapsburg Empire from 1648 to 1918, and the history of Austria from 1918 to the present.
