Dr. John Bro Jeppesen

Biography

John Bro-Jeppesen is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University and a Senior Consultant in Cardiology at Aarhus University Hospital. His research portfolio focuses on post-cardiac arrest syndrome and clinical outcomes, particularly the pathophysiological mechanisms behind post-resuscitation complications such as systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and impaired hemodynamics. His studies have provided critical insights into prognostic markers and therapeutic targets for early post-arrest care. Bro-Jeppesen has contributed to clinical studies assessing the impact of neurological recovery and the complex interface between acute cardiovascular support and neurocritical care, with an emphasis on the importance of accurate neuroprognostication to guide treatment decisions and optimize patient outcomes. He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Copenhagen and defended his PhD and higher doctoral dissertation (DMSc) on post-cardiac arrest care, focusing on hemodynamics, inflammation, and prognostic implications. He is also the Course Leader for a graduate medical education course covering multiple clinical specialties including cardiology, and he teaches in collaboration with colleagues in anesthesiology, conducting symposiums on cardiac arrest.
