Dr. John Buley

Biography

John Buley is a Professor of Practice at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, focusing on Business Management. He serves as the Advisory Committee Chair for the Impact Investing Initiative and is a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee for the Energy Initiative. Prior to joining Duke in 2012, John worked in banking at JPMorgan. He teaches courses on Project Finance, Energy Finance, Corporate Restructuring, and offers an Advanced Seminar on Social Entrepreneurship Consulting Practicum. John is also a Senior Advisor at Lincoln International, a global middle-market investment bank. He was previously the Head of Principal Investing at Social Finance, overseeing J.P. Morgan’s significant capital commitments to impact investments in Emerging Markets amounting to $100 million. John has extensive experience in the investment banking sector, serving in various roles including Head of Corporate Finance Products and mergers and acquisitions at JPMorgan Chase. His career began as an attorney in banking practice with White & Case. He holds a J.D. from Temple University and an LL.M in International Taxation from Villanova University, and is a member of the New York Bar.
