Dr. John Cahill

Biography

John Cahill is an Associate Professor at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry. He serves as the Residency Program Director for the Yale Department of Psychiatry and is also the Deputy Medical Director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center. His clinical interests include emerging severe mental illness and multi-stakeholder driven learning health systems, emphasizing translational research approaches. John completed his medical degree and PhD training in the UK and undertook a psychiatry residency followed by clinical research fellowships at Yale. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Clinical Informatics, and is actively involved in promoting evidence-based psychiatric practices, including deprescribing and minimal effective dosing of medications. He integrates psychodynamic and socio-cultural considerations into holistic psychiatric care, working collaboratively in various clinical settings to improve patient outcomes.
