Biography

John Callister is a Senior Lecturer at Cornell University. He worked as an automotive engineer for General Motors from 1985 to 1993, where he focused on aerodynamics, engine cooling, air conditioning, and wind noise programs for various car models including the Pontiac Turbo Trans, Chevrolet Caprice, and Corvette. In 1996, he transitioned to academia, teaching engineering business classes at Tri-State University until 1998. Callister joined Cornell University as a faculty member in January 1999. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. His graduate research centered on automobile aeroacoustics, supported by PPG Industries Inc., which developed windows with enhanced acoustic properties for vehicles and aircraft. Callister has served as the faculty advisor for the Cornell Hybrid Electric Vehicle team between 2001 and 2004 and the Cornell Formula SAE Racing team from 2012 to 2013 and 2015. His research interests include Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics, alongside a teaching focus on Automotive Engineering.
