Biography

Professor at Imperial College London since 2006, John Cosgrove has an extensive background in structural geology and rock mechanics. He served as Reader from 2001 to 2006 and as a Lecturer from 1973 to 2001. His postdoctoral research was conducted at McMaster University, Canada, from 1972 to 1973. He earned his PhD from Imperial College in 1972 and holds an MSc in Structural Geology from Imperial College and a BSc in Geology from Aston University. Cosgrove has contributed significantly to the field and has received numerous accolades, including the 2007 Award for Teaching Excellence in Engineering Education at Imperial College and the 2004 Paul Fourmarier Prize Gold Medal from the Royal Academy in Belgium. He is also a council member of the Geologists' Association and has been involved with the Swedish Nuclear Fuel & Waste Management Site Evaluation Review Group.
