Biography

John P. Crapanzano, MD is an expert diagnostic pathologist with a special focus on cytopathology and fine-needle aspiration biopsy. He possesses extensive experience in performing and interpreting fine-needle aspiration biopsies, particularly for superficial palpable lesions, as well as evaluating cytologic material obtained through radiologically-guided procedures. With a strong background in diagnostic cytology and exfoliative cytopathology, Dr. Crapanzano has contributed to surgical pathology and cytology services at the Columbia University Medical Center since 2009. He previously worked at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he served as director of the cytology fellowship. Dr. Crapanzano is actively involved in education, having lectured students in cytotechnology and pathology residents as well as cytopathology fellows. He has co-authored book chapters and published numerous articles on tumor cytomorphology and related topics, aiming to advance the field of cytopathology in the era of personalized medicine. He is board certified in Pathology-Anatomic and Pathology-Clinical, with a vested interest in cytomorphology of both neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesions.
