Dr. John Crichton

Biography

John Crichton is an Honorary Professor at Edinburgh Law School and a consultant forensic psychiatrist at the Orchard Clinic, Royal Edinburgh Hospital. He has trained in Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham and completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge's Institute of Criminology, where he focused on the management of violence and challenging behavior in psychiatric inpatients. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications, including papers and book chapters, Crichton has significantly contributed to the field, notably through his edited book, 'Psychiatric Patient Violence: Risk Response'. He has also held the position of Medical Director of the Forensic Network and the State Hospitals’ Board in Scotland.
