Biography

John Laurence Esguerra is an Assistant Professor at Linköping University, specializing in environmental techno-economic assessments and emerging technologies. His research interests include Material Flow Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing, and Sensitivity Analysis. Esguerra has a strong background in sustainable systems, having completed his PhD in this field at Linköping University in 2022, and an additional PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp, Belgium in 2021. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Ecology from a consortium of renowned institutions including Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, and Chalmers University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines. His academic career also includes roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Teaching Assistant at Linköping University and the University of the Philippines, respectively. Esguerra is the recipient of multiple scholarships and grants, including the Marianne Marcus Wallenberg grant for the years 2024-2028 and the EU Marie Curie PhD Scholarship. He teaches courses related to environmental systems analysis and industrial ecology, and actively engages in research projects aimed at sustainable resource management.
