Biography

John W. Evans is a Lecturer in English at Stanford University. He has authored several works, including 'Fight Journal' published by Rattle in 2023, 'Wish: Memoir' (University of Nebraska Press, 2017), and 'Young Widower: Memoir' (University of Nebraska Press, 2014). His poetry collection 'Consolations' was released by Trio House Press in 2014. Evans’ works have received numerous accolades including the Rattle Chapbook Prize and the Peace Corps Writers Book Prize. His writing has appeared in respected publications such as Poets & Writers, Slate, and the Boston Review. Eve was previously a Phyllis Draper Lecturer Nonfiction at Stanford and has held the position of Jones Lecturer and Wallace Stegner Fellow. He is recognized by his students as a favorite professor, particularly among women’s sports teams at Stanford. In addition to his teaching, Evans is actively involved in his community serving on the board of the local YMCA. He resides in East Palo Alto with his two young sons.
