Dr. John Gershenson

Biography

John Gershenson is a Research Professor at Penn State University. He has a B.A. in Physics from Cornell University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho. His research interests encompass product and process architecture, lean and sustainable design manufacturing, and appropriate technologies, resulting in over 75 peer-reviewed publications. He has served as principal investigator and co-principal investigator on proposals valued at over $10 million. Most notably, he is focused on developing 3D printing medical technologies for rural healthcare clinics in East Africa. He is also the Director of the Humanitarian Engineering Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) Program, which actively engages in MedTech, AgTech, and EdTech projects aiming for global impact.
