Biography

John Gosse is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University. With a background in Alpine glacial chronologies, he earned his Ph.D. from Lehigh University in 1994 and a B.Sc. from Memorial University in 1989. His research specializes in cosmogenic nuclides, aiding in understanding slip rates of faults in various regions, including Tibet and the southern central Andes. He examines the glacial history of Canada and investigates the rates of erosion, exhumation, landslides, and streams. His interests extend to geoarchaeology and the influence of climate change on landscape evolution, especially during the Pliocene-Quaternary. Current fieldwork spans the Canadian Arctic archipelago and southern South America. He has contributed significantly to understanding landscape evolution, Pliocene geological formations, and the active tectonics shaping these environments.
