Biography

John R. Graham is the D. Richard Mead, Jr. Family Professor in Finance at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He has been recognized with Outstanding Faculty Teacher awards and is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His past work experience includes teaching at the University of Utah and serving as a senior economist at Virginia Power for seven years. Graham has also held editorial roles, including co-editor of the Journal of Finance and associate editor for several journals including the Review of Financial Studies and Financial Management. He has been the president of the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, and the Financial Management Association, which are among the largest academic finance organizations. Currently, he chairs the Emerging Scholar mentoring program for the Financial Management Association and serves as academic director of Duke Fuqua's CFO Executive Education program. With more than 100 published articles and book chapters, his research covers taxes, capital structure, cash management, governance, financial reporting, and payout policy, earning him several prestigious awards. His teaching primarily focuses on corporate finance, taxes, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
