Dr. John Grbic

Biography

John T. Grbic is a Professor of Dental Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and serves as the Director of the Division of Foundational Sciences. He has a wealth of experience in clinical research and has published over 60 papers and book chapters focusing on oral diagnostics and the pharmacotherapeutic management of periodontal diseases. His clinical practice includes both non-surgical and surgical periodontics, as well as implant surgery. Grbic received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Medical Science from Harvard University, where he also completed a certificate in Periology. He has held various administrative positions, including Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. His research interests encompass the link between periodontal diseases and systemic conditions like HIV, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, with a particular focus on using saliva and gingival crevicular fluid for diagnostics. Grbic has also been involved in multiple research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health.
