Biography

John Mark Hansen is the Charles L. Hutchinson Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Political Science and the College at the University of Chicago. His areas of study include American Politics, focusing on legislative politics, interest group politics, and rational choice models. Throughout his career, Hansen has held several leadership roles at the university, including chair of the Political Science Department, associate provost for Research Education, and dean of the Division of Social Sciences. In 2001, he served as the research coordinator for the National Commission on Federal Election Reform. Converse Book Award from the American Political Science Association. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
