Biography

John R. Hauser is the Kirin Professor of Marketing at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He teaches courses in new product development, marketing management, and statistical research methodology. Hauser has held several prestigious positions at MIT, including Head of the MIT Marketing Group and Research Director at the Center for Innovation in Product Development. He has co-authored important textbooks and has published extensively, with over a hundred scientific papers. His contributions to marketing science have earned him numerous awards, including the Converse Award, Parlin Award, and the Churchill Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also noted for his consulting work with various corporations, specifically in product development and marketing research, and has served as an expert witness in over seventy-five legal cases. Hauser co-founded Applied Marketing Science, Inc. and has been recognized as a Fellow of both the Institute of Operations Research and the Management Sciences and the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science. He holds multiple degrees from MIT, including SB and SM in Electrical and Civil Engineering, and a ScD in Operations Research. Additionally, he received an honorary doctorate from Erasmus School of Economics for his significant impact on the field of marketing science.
