John C. Heaton studies asset pricing, portfolio allocation, and time-series econometrics. Originally from Canada, Heaton earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Windsor in 1982, a master's degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1984, and a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 1989. In his academic career, Heaton enjoys music, skiing, and sailing.
