Dr. John Huber

Biography

John studied engineering at Cambridge University, where he gained his PhD researching mechanics of materials. He joined Oxford's Engineering Science department in 2005, where he continued his research focus on smart materials, actuators, and sensors, primarily in the area of mechanics of materials. His recent work includes experimental investigations into dry reciprocating wear behaviour and advanced energy harvesting techniques using piezoelectric effects in ferroelectric and ferroelastic materials. He has contributed to multiple publications in the field, establishing himself as a key researcher in materials engineering, particularly in wearable technologies and micro-nanoscale materials characterization. John is actively involved in mentoring DPhil students and exploring new opportunities in smart materials, aiming to innovate in energy harvesting and mitigate energy losses in material applications.
