Biography

John D. Jacobson is an architect and Professor Adjunct at the Yale School of Architecture, where he has been teaching since 1970. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Architecture from Yale University. His professional experience spans working as a designer at Pfisterer and Tor Associates, a consulting structural engineering firm, and serving as project manager for some of the largest construction companies in Connecticut, including Cesar Pelli & Associates. In addition, he spent twenty years as a product designer and owner of a manufacturing firm that specializes in products for children. He received the Judith M. Capen Teaching Award, selected by Yale School of Architecture graduating students. In 1996, he was appointed associate dean and has worked under successive deans overseeing the School of Architecture's administration and finance. His current research focuses on the history and consequences of building failures.
