Biography

John Kelly is a neurosurgeon and clinician scientist at the Foothills Medical Centre and a member of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute. He completed his PhD in neuroscience at the University of Calgary in 2011 after obtaining his MD from the University of Alberta in 2001. His research primarily focuses on the investigation and treatment of glioblastoma, a highly aggressive type of brain cancer. At the Clark H. Smith Brain Tumour Centre, he has developed novel model systems to explore the molecular subgroups of infiltrating gliomas. His laboratory has created a robust organoid model system using patient-derived samples to better understand glioblastoma and identify new therapeutic strategies for this challenging disease.
