Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. John Lassiter. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
John C. Lassiter is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin's Jackson School of Geosciences. His research primarily focuses on isotope trace element geochemistry, which addresses fundamental problems related to the origin and evolution of the Earth, including the structure and chemical evolution of the mantle and crust. His work explores the origins of mantle plumes and their interactions with the lithosphere, as well as the generation and segregation of magma. Lassiter investigates the chemical evolution of the continental lithosphere and the associated chemical fluxes in both constructive and destructive tectonic environments. Current research interests also include the recycling of the lithospheric mantle and its role in generating chemical heterogeneity in the mantle, along with the distribution of volatile elements within the Earth's interior.
General requirements for the Graduate School at UT Austin apply to all programs unless otherwise specified.
