Biography

John Magee studied at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Toronto. He has taught at Columbia University from 1986 to 1992 and has been affiliated with the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, as well as the University of Toronto since 1992. He is a member of the Department of Classics and the Collaborative Program in Ancient Medieval Philosophy. Currently, he serves as the Director and Senior Fellow at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. His general research interests focus on late ancient philosophy, including the work of philosophical commentators and textual criticism. He has published extensively on Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius and is currently working on a critical edition of Περὶ Ἑρμηνείας, along with an English translation of Calcidius.
