Biography

Professor Magnussen graduated in Medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), completing a PhD in Nuclear Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at UNSW. He qualified in Radiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) and remained for several years as Director of Research and a Staff Specialist Radiologist. During this time, John worked in diagnostic and interventional radiology at RPAH and major private hospitals. In 2010, he was appointed Professor of Radiology at Macquarie University, playing a pivotal role in establishing Macquarie Medical Imaging and dedicating efforts to create unique standards of excellence in medical practice. He has completed advanced training in CT Coronary Angiography and has presented at numerous international meetings, contributing to both basic science and clinical research. His research interests include Neuroradiology, advanced imaging techniques such as MRS, qMRS, fMRI, qSWI, ASL, as well as Cardiac Imaging and the management of Back Pain.
