Dr. John Misasi

Biography

Dr. John Misasi is an Assistant Professor at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University and completed a pediatric residency at New York University. He further specialized as a Fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Misasi has held several positions in prestigious institutions, including as an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. His research has significantly contributed to the understanding of antibodies that confer protection against lethal Ebola virus infection, notably contributing to the development of FDA-approved therapies for Ebola virus disease. In his prior capacity at the NIH Vaccine Research Center, he led a team in identifying and engineering antibodies for therapeutic uses. Dr. Misasi's research encompasses a range of viruses, including Ebola, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2, and he holds multiple patents related to antibody applications. His current focus at Boston University includes understanding the interplay between antibody quality, disease severity, and long-term immunity against various pathogens.
