Dr. John Moores

Biography

John Moores is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director at York University, specializing in Earth Space Science. He has served as a Science Advisor to the President of the Canadian Space Agency and as Director of Technologies for the Exo-Planetary Science NSERC CREATE Program, where he provides unique training opportunities for graduate students. Moores previously held the position of Associate Dean of Research & Graduate Studies for the Lassonde School of Engineering. He completed his PhD at the University of Arizona in Planetary Science in 2008 and is a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. Throughout his career, he has published 84 papers that have attracted over 7,000 citations according to Google Scholar. His research focuses on the intersection of science and engineering, exploring solar system atmospheres and planets. Moores is also the Director of Technologies for the Exo/Planetary Science NSERC CREATE Network and held the York Research Chair in Space Exploration in 2019, overseeing research matters within the graduate programs at the Lassonde School of Engineering. His research lab is the Planetary Volatiles Laboratory.
