Biography

Dr. John Morton is a Professor of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and serves as the System Lead for Surgical Quality Bariatric Services at Yale New Haven Health System. He has practiced bariatric surgery for 18 years and has held various leadership roles including Vice-Chair of Quality and Division Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Morton completed his medical education at Tulane University and received his master’s degrees in Public Health and Health Administration from Tulane University and the University of Washington, respectively. He has published over 173 articles, contributed to 21 book chapters, and delivered around 300 presentations nationally and internationally. His research interests include quality improvement in bariatric surgery, patient safety, medical education, and the socio-economic impacts of weight loss surgery. A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Morton has led multiple FDA pivotal trials and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the medical community.
