Biography

John O’Connor is the Regent of Blackfriars Hall and a Dominican friar, holding a Doctorate in Moral Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Oxford. He also obtained a DPhil in Applied Physics from the University of Oxford. O'Connor has served as a Teaching Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh and as a Lecturer in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Glasgow. Currently, he is an Honorary Lecturer in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Glasgow, where he co-supervises doctoral theses. His research primarily focuses on the dialogue between contemporary philosophy and moral theology, with active interests in aesthetics, metaphysics, philosophical theology, and the science-religion interface. His editorial role includes serving as Assistant Editor for New Blackfriars.
