Biography

Professor Ohnesorge teaches courses in Business Organizations and Administrative Law, and seminars on Compliance, Law Development, and Chinese Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he serves as the Director of the East Asian Legal Studies Center. He is also the founder and director of the Law School's Compliance Initiative. Previously, he has held important roles including Senior Advisor to the Law School's Graduate Program from 2023 to 2025 and Chair of the Wisconsin China Initiative from 2008 to 2012. Throughout his career, Professor Ohnesorge has been actively involved in faculty governance, chairing multiple committees such as the Faculty Appointments Committee and the ABA Site Visit Committee. His academic journey began with a B.A. from St. Olaf College, followed by a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, and an S.J.D. from Harvard Law School. Professor Ohnesorge has spent significant time in East Asia, where he taught law students in Shanghai during the 1980s and worked as a lawyer in private practice in Seoul during the 1990s. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Seoul National University and spent 2023 as a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar at Yonsei University in Seoul. His scholarship spans various domains including Administrative Law, International Economic Law, and Legal Thought, among others.
