Dr. John Pachankis

Biography

John Pachankis is the Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Public Health at Yale University, specializing in social and behavioral sciences. He directs Yale’s LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative and has a robust research program funded by the NIH that focuses on the efficacy of LGBTQ-affirmative mental health interventions delivered through innovative technologies and in diverse settings. His work spans the spectrum of the LGBTQ community, with treatments demonstrated to produce significant and sustained reductions in depression, anxiety, suicidality, substance use, and HIV risk through randomized controlled trials. Pachankis has published over 150 scientific papers addressing LGBTQ mental health and stigma and is a co-editor of the 'Handbook of Evidence-Based Mental Health Practice with Sexual and Gender Minorities,' published by Oxford University Press.
