Biography

John Raiti is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington. He teaches courses including Sensors & Circuits, IoT Connected Devices, Capstone-style Launch Projects, and Robotics focusing on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). Raiti's research is centered on human-robot interaction projects where he has designed and tested web interfaces for various robots such as NASA’s Robonaut and Valkyrie, PR2, and others. He has collaborated with Brown University on a project that studied robots aiding astronauts in identifying geologically relevant rock samples. Raiti also received the Faculty Appreciation Career Education Training (FACET) Award for his impact on students' education. He holds a doctorate and master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University and has an additional Master of Science degree in Neuroscience from Syracuse University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. Raiti actively participates in robotics STEM outreach, mentoring a high school robotics team.
