Biography

John graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons 1) in 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering in 1972. He has had a distinguished academic career, having served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President at the Australian National University, as well as Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. In the 1980s, he was the founding Director of the Centre for Remote Sensing at the University of New South Wales. John is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and a Life Fellow of IEEE. His primary research interests include Machine Learning, Remote Sensing, Image Interpretation, and Imaging Radar.
