Biography

Professor John Rogers obtained his BA and BS degrees in Chemistry and Physics from the University of Texas, Austin, in 1989. He received SM degrees in Physics and Chemistry from MIT in 1992, followed by a PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1995. After serving as a Junior Fellow at Harvard University, he joined Bell Laboratories as a Member of the Technical Staff. In 2003, he became a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, holding the Swanlund Chair and serving in multiple departments. In 2016, he joined Northwestern University as the Louis Simpson Kimberly Querrey Professor in several engineering and science disciplines and became the founding Director of the Center for Bio-Integrated Electronics. His research interests span various fields, including novel electronic and photonic devices, soft materials technology for biological integration, and advanced nanoscale fabrication techniques. Throughout his career, Rogers has co-authored more than 1000 peer-reviewed papers and is an inventor on over 100 patents. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to science and engineering, including election to various national and international academies. Rogers is actively involved in advancing interdisciplinary research that merges traditional fields with innovative engineering solutions.
