Biography

John Rumrich is the Celanese Centennial Professor of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin, where he specializes in Shakespeare, Milton, Early Modern English literature, and detective fiction. He has served as a fellow at the National Endowment for the Humanities from 1990 to 1991 and edited the journal Texas Studies in Literature and Language from 1992 to 2007. Rumrich has also been a visiting professor in various countries, including China, France, Ireland, and South Africa. He teaches a range of courses at the undergraduate level focused on literature, including classes on Shakespeare and Milton, as well as specialized courses such as Crime Fiction and The Bible in British and American Literature.
