Biography

John Sakaluk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University. He earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Child Studies, conducting honors work under the supervision of Dr. Robin Milhausen. He began his graduate studies at the University of Kansas, initially focusing on Clinical Psychology, before ultimately completing his Ph.D. in Social Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Psychology under Dr. Monica Biernat's supervision. Dr. Sakaluk returned to Canada to take up a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship with Dr. Emily Impett. He previously held a tenure-track position at the University of Victoria, where he taught various undergraduate courses on human sexuality and graduate courses on research methods and statistical modeling techniques. He has a strong interest in the development and application of psychometric measurement modeling techniques, particularly in creating and evaluating analytical tools to simplify measurement modeling usage. He is also keen on training students in R programming and dyadic data analysis, and he encourages graduate applicants interested in methodological work or contributing to the development of open-source quantitative tools. Dr. Sakaluk is a core member of the Social, Personality, and Developmental Psychology area at Western University.
