Biography

John Sather, MD, is an associate professor at Yale School of Medicine and a specialist in emergency medicine. He serves as the Director of Safety and Quality in the Department of Emergency Medicine, where he has been instrumental in developing clinical guidelines for managing critically ill patients. His research is focused on improving critical care delivery, particularly regarding transitions of care and reducing diagnostic errors. As a Principal Investigator for the Diagnostic Excellence Initiative funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, he aims to develop composite measures for diagnostic performance in Pulmonary Embolism. Dr. Sather is also involved in AHRQ-funded projects addressing early care in septic shock and interventions during cardiac arrest. He leads the Critical Care Area Concentration for emergency medicine residents and is an active member of the Admissions Committee and Mortality Review Committee at Yale-New Haven Health System.
