Biography

John Screnock is a Tutorial Fellow in Old Testament and Hebrew Bible at Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford. He completed his PhD at the University of Toronto and has since held positions including Research Fellow in Hebrew Bible at Oxford and Kennicott Fellow in Hebrew. His research interests encompass the Hebrew Bible, Psalms, Dead Sea Scrolls, Hebrew linguistics, and textual criticism. He is the author of 'Traductor Scriptor: Old Greek Translation Exodus 1–14 Scribal Activity' published by Brill in 2017. His scholarly articles have appeared in several prestigious journals including the Journal of Biblical Literature, Vetus Testamentum, and Hebrew Studies. His ongoing project, Reading Psalms Scribes, investigates scribal activity and textual witnesses relating to Psalms. Notable recent publications include works exploring ancient Hebrew literature, textual history, and translation techniques within biblical texts.
