Biography

John Shen has over 30 years of academic, industrial, and entrepreneurial experience in the fields of power electronics, power semiconductor devices, and renewable energy systems. His research focuses on fault protection in DC/AC microgrids and transportation electrification. He has authored approximately 300 journal and conference papers, receiving numerous awards including the IEEE Transaction Prize Paper awards and 18 granted U.S. patents. He is a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors and has held significant positions in the IEEE Power Electronics Society, such as Vice President of Products and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Power Electronics Magazine. His teaching interests include electronics, sensors, and actuators, with courses taught on advanced power electronics, renewable energies, and vehicular electronics. Shen has received several accolades, including the IEEE Region 3 Outstanding Engineer Award and the NSF CAREER Award. He has contributed to the organization of 30 international conferences in various capacities, enhancing the field of power electronics.
