Dr. John Silvester

Biography

Ph.D. in Computer Science, 1980, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA. John Silvester is a Professor Emeritus in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California. He has served in various administrative roles including Vice-Provost for Scholarly Technology and Vice-Provost for Academic Computing. He has also chaired the Board of the Corporation for Educational Network Initiatives in California (CENIC). His recent research has focused on traffic analysis, capacity planning for multimedia traffic, and he has been the Principal Investigator for the NSF Cyber-Infrastructure International Research Network Connections project. Additionally, he has been actively involved in the development and generation of internet infrastructure in California and internationally, contributing to national research education networks and developing strategies for enhancing connectivity across nations.
