Biography

John Stoukides has practiced medicine for 33 years, primarily at Roger Williams Medical Center, where he completed his residency. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice Palliative Medicine. Stoukides has been instrumental in developing the senior care practice group at the hospital, which is the largest in the state. He became the fifth chair of the Department of Medicine with unanimous support from the search committee, which included experienced members from various medical backgrounds. Stoukides has held various academic positions, including Clinical Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine and the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. He also serves as the Medical Director of Utilization Management at CharterCARE and has an adjunct professor role at the University of Rhode Island in the Nursing and Pharmacy departments. He earned his Doctor of Science in Gerontology from the University of Rhode Island and has received an honorary Doctor of Science degree in Geriatrics from the same institution.
