Biography

John Sutera is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University Steinhardt, specializing in Physical Therapy. He received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Binghamton University. After working in bank management operations, he shifted his career focus to physical therapy. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the City University of New York - College of Staten Island, later earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Stony Brook University. Sutera is certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University and has over 20 years of experience in various clinical settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, neurology, geriatrics, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation. He currently practices at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, focusing on vestibular rehabilitation as a master clinician in NYU’s program. In his academic role, he is responsible for teaching in areas such as cardiovascular and pulmonary tracks, professionalism, ethics, and communication. His research interests include clinical examination and assessment of balance and dizziness in patients with traumatic brain injuries, and he collaborates with students from the NYU School of Medicine and the Steinhardt Education Theater Department to enhance learning through technology.
