Professor Dr. John Timmerman

Biography

John Timmerman is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCLA, specializing in medical oncology and hematology. His clinical interests focus primarily on lymphoma, and he conducts research on immunologic strategies to treat lymphomas. Timmerman's laboratory investigates how the immune system can be taught to recognize tumor-associated antigens to selectively target cancer cells while sparing normal cells. His research includes exploring methods to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapies and characterizing new anti-CD20 antibodies for B-cell lymphomas. A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UC San Francisco and a fellowship in Oncology at Stanford University. He holds board certifications in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. His contributions to the field include several highlighted publications that examine tumor responses to immunotherapies and the molecular mechanisms of tumor destruction.
