Biography

John F. Trant is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on biopolymeric materials and (bio)organic synthesis. Trant's lab, known as the Trant Team, specializes in synthetic chemistry as it relates to medicine, materials, and biology. They utilize computational drug discovery, synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and biophysics. The lab is engaged in creating new biologically active compounds and novel materials through guided computational design and synthetic organic chemistry. Trant works closely with both academic and industrial collaborators, aiming to tackle new challenges across multiple fields. Additionally, he teaches courses in organic, bioorganic, materials, and polymers at the University.
