Dr. John Vaughn

Biography

John Anthony Vaughn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Duke University. He is particularly focused on the field of Narrative Medicine, which aims to enhance the care that clinicians provide to patients by fostering a sense of professional agency and satisfaction. Dr. Vaughn serves as the Director of Student Health at Duke University, where he is dedicated to maximizing the health and well-being of the university's student community through innovative, patient-centered health care. His education includes a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Ohio State University, College of Medicine, completed in 1997. Dr. Vaughn has been involved in various professional activities, such as serving as a Consulting Editor for the Journal of American College Health from 2018 to 2020. He also participated in the College and University Student Health Symposium during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating his commitment to addressing health concerns in academic settings. Additionally, he has experience as an interviewer and rater in the Multi Mini Interview (MMI) process for the School of Medicine Office of Admissions, contributing his expertise to the selection of future medical students.
