Biography

Dr. Wachtel has been practicing general obstetrics and gynecology for 38 years and personally delivered 6,000 babies. He continues to actively practice general ob/gyn and serves as a Clinical Professor at Stanford. He is a nationally recognized expert in patient safety and has been involved in data-driven quality improvement initiatives. Dr. Wachtel has held numerous roles in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, lecturing both nationally and internationally. He is the Assistant Secretary of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and serves on its National Executive Board and Executive Committee. He is the immediate Past Chair of ACOG District IX in California and has previously served on the ACOG national Executive Board. Additionally, he is part of the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative as an Expert Medical Reviewer for the Medical Board of California.
