Biography

John received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a PhD in Chemistry from Princeton University. He worked at Polaroid Corporation for about a decade and served as a tenured full professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston's Lowell campus in the Chemistry and Plastics Engineering department. In 2007, he founded the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry alongside Jim Babcock, which focuses on developing green chemistry technologies. Warner also serves on the advisory panel for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy and was instrumental in developing Adidas's technology for their Parley Recycled Ocean Plastics shoe. He has authored numerous research publications and holds over 200 patents across various fields. His recent work includes projects aimed at recycling, sustainable materials, and educational initiatives for K-12 educators to incorporate green chemistry into STEM curricula. His contributions to the field have earned him various accolades, including the Perkin Medal and recognition as an influential figure in the global chemical industry.
