Biography

John Wettlaufer is the A.M. Bateman Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Yale University. He has dedicated his academic career to the fields of geophysics, applied mathematics, and mathematical modeling, focusing on the interplay between physical and biological systems. His notable research areas include statistical physics and analysis, particularly in harmonic analysis and partial differential equations (PDE). Since joining Yale in 1993, he has contributed extensively to the academic community, serving as the director of undergraduate studies in applied mathematics, and overseeing various seminars aimed at advancing the field.
