Biography

John P. Wilson is a Professor at the University of Southern California, holding positions in Architecture, Civil Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Preventive Medicine, and Sociology. He is the founding director of the Spatial Sciences Institute at Dornsife College. Wilson serves as Co-Director of both the Climate Health Working Group and the Exposure Sciences Research Core at the Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center, and he leads the Clinical Research Informatics Division at the Southern California Clinical Translational Science Institute. He received his PhD in Geography from the University of Toronto, focusing on spatiotemporal modeling of environmental systems. Wilson is the founding editor-in-chief of Transactions in GIS, published by Wiley-Blackwell. He is an internationally recognized leader in environmental modeling, geodesign, geohealth, and spatial data science. His research group, affiliated with the Wilson Map Lab, works with graduate and undergraduate students to provide spatial analytics and models to inform healthier, more resilient communities. Collaborating across disciplines, Wilson addresses critical issues related to human health, sustainability, and the environment.
