Dr. John Wilson

Biography

John P. Wilson is a Professor at the University of Southern California (USC), specializing in Spatial Sciences and Sociology. He is the founding director of the Spatial Sciences Institute and holds adjunct appointments at the School of Architecture and the Keck School of Medicine’s Department of Population and Public Health Sciences, as well as at the Viterbi School of Engineering's Departments of Computer Science and Civil & Environmental Engineering. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of geographical aspects with urban and public health challenges, leveraging his extensive background in Geography, having obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. Wilson has a comprehensive academic foundation, including a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree, both obtained with distinction from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and a law degree from the same institution. He has published extensively, with recent works examining contextual factors in health and the ecological risks associated with food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
