Dr. Johnny Jermias

Biography

Johnny Jermias has extensive experience in accounting and strategic management accounting. He earned his PhD in 1996 and began his career working for an auditor in Indonesia. In 1999, he joined the Simon Fraser University Beedie School of Business as a visiting scholar, and by 2001 he became an Assistant Professor in Accounting. His teaching specializes in advanced management accounting, driven by a passion for education and the belief that students serve as a source of inspiration. His research interests largely revolve around strategic management accounting, focusing on the intersection of a company's strategy with organizational structures and control systems, as well as how these elements influence managerial decision-making. He examines the intricate relationship between management accounting systems and organizational performance, especially how biases affect management decisions. Johnny has been involved in numerous scholarly publications that contribute to the field of management accounting and governance.
