Biography

Jom Luiten is a Full Professor in the Coherence Quantum Technology group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on the fundamental aspects of quantum physics and its applications in materials science, nanotechnology, and life sciences. Major research lines include improving the temporal resolution of electron microscopy and developing potential contributions to various industrial applications. Utilizing his expertise in ultracold plasma, Luiten's group is working on an ultracold electron source that produces electron beams with a higher degree of transverse coherence than conventional sources. This involves liberating electrons from a cloud of laser-cooled atoms through a photocathode. Additionally, the group investigates coherent interactions between electrons and light, as well as coherent manipulation of electron beams and laser light, aiming for the coherent generation of X-ray light using electron beams.
